 What is a Danu Woman?

A Danu Woman is someone who identifies as a woman or non-binary person and loves the outdoors and nature. Whether or not that means that you like to hunt, fish, garden, hike, camp, or do animal husbandry, you are a Danu Woman!

Danu is the Earth-Mother Goddess in Celtic Lore and she is also believed to be a goddess of fertility, wisdom, nurture and cycle of growth. I believe that Danu represents what the outdoor woman lives life for today. 

Why Did I Start Danu Woman?

2020 was a year of change for many of us around the world. For me, it made me focus on what I really wanted out of life and what made me the happiest. I realized that I spent so much time focused on materialistic things that brought nothing to the table and I was becoming a shell of the person that I desperately wanted to be. Things need to change. I need to change. My focus started shifting. 

My family and I started going fishing, spending more time in the mountains exploring, getting away from everything, and camping around the state. I started reading more and watching less TV, my kids collected rocks, we started growing our own vegetables, composting our waste and enjoying the simple things. 

In 2022, we stepped up our game and bought a home with lots of land and is right next to a river at the base of a mountain. We now have 16 chickens, 11 ducks, 3 cats and 1 dog. I'm in full plan mode for a greenhouse, more livestock and trying to live 75% off our land. My goals are always evolving and I am loving the people that we are becoming with these choices. 

During all of my research and shopping over the last 2 years, I've realized how hard it is to find outdoor gear and apparel for not only women and girls, but especially plus size women! I would spend four times as long searching for products for my daughter and I than I did for my husband and boys. Ridiculous! I want to make things easier for the next woman and create a place to find everything you're looking for in one place. 

I will be posting all kinds of products and deals on my Facebook Page daily and sharing them on a frequent basis. I will also post all the products here on my blog, but will limit that post to once per week.
